Jake Character Interview: Charley, Lowe, Love, and Second Chances
1) Charley... what are your first thoughts when you say her name?
I don’t know if I can focus it into specific thoughts, other than that I just feel good when I say her name.
2) Describe to us what you were feeling and thinking when you saw Charley for the first time at the party in Edinburgh?
Shocked. Relieved. Scared shitless. Confused. Nostalgic. And yeah attraction. It’s always there.
3) Your history with Charley is filled with intense love and incredible pain, how do you
think you will be able to rebuild lost trust and overcome fear, as an individual and as a couple?
Whoa. That’s like something my therapist would have asked. You guys aren’t pulling any punches. Is it still too early for a beer? Yes? Okay. That is a loaded question and all I can say right now is that I think it’ll take time, patience and belief.
4) Melissa... tell us about your feelings for her and how your friendship/relationship has changed since Charley came back into your life?
Look, she’s a good girl, and I’ll always care about her but we both made mistakes and did some damage to each other during that time. In the end we weren’t good for each other. And right now I think we both just need space.
5) Lowe... he has a very special connection with Charley... how do you really feel and think
about their past, as well as their current friendship?
I’m not crazy about it but Lowe’s a friend and he was just looking out for Charley. I know she needed that so I can’t begrudge them that. I’m not thrilled by their closeness considering I know he wants in her pants, but I trust Charley. That’s all that matters.
6) Beck and Claudia... guy code aside? Tell us your thoughts on Beck's turbulent relationship with Claudia and the similar struggles you've had with Charley?
I get where Beck was coming from, I do. But I also think he needed to pull his head out of his ass—look to my mistakes and learn not to make them.
7) Given your life and love experiences, tell us how you feel about second chances?
I’m like the poster boy of second chances am I not?
8) If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
Too much pride, man. Got me into a lot of shit.
9) If you could change one thing when it comes to your history w/Charley, what would it
be?
You know I believe things play out the way they’re supposed to. You’d go crazy with regret if you didn’t… but of course you never want to hurt someone you love as much as I love Charley. Our history has made us who we are but I would take back hurting her even if it meant losing a little bit of myself in the process.
10) Tell me a fun fact about you we don't know?
Alright. But you can’t tell anyone. Promise? Okay. I have a thing for Doritos dipped in jelly… I know it’s weird. Shit. You’re going to tell everyone, aren’t you? Up until now that was a well kept secret in the Caplin household.
11) What is your idea of perfect happiness?
I think I’ll be a gentleman and keep that little tidbit to myself.
12)Finally... what do you love most about Charley?
Her sense of humor. No…how brave she is. No… wait it’s her—never mind. Let’s stick with the humor. She’s likely to kill me for saying that than the other thing.
