Excerpt: Meet Landon & Sadie!

Picture
Grabbing my beer from the floor, I took a sip, clearing my thoughts. “Everybody having fun tonight?” I looked around to all the whoops and hollers. “Well, as most of you have already seen, we have a newbie in town who’s joined us tonight.” I stared down at Sadie.

Her eyes widened and mouth gaped open. I could see that maybe this wasn’t such a good idea, but it was already in motion. “Sadie, can you stand up?” Sadie’s eyes narrowed at me, but she reluctantly stood and gave a small wave.

I smirked, which seemed to tick her off more. The hollers from the guys were deafening, and I wanted to slug each one.

“Now, I know you guys out there want to dance here with Sadie, I mean who wouldn’t, right.” I paused for the hollers to die down.

“Well, she has promised me her first dance. So, all you guys stop bothering her, and let her enjoy the show. She isn’t breaking her promise.”

Sadie’s face grew red. I didn’t know if she was pissed or embarrassed. I was hoping for the latter. I just wanted to help her out of this, or she would be hounded all night.

And I would love to feel her body pressed against mine. It was a bit selfish, but also beneficial to her, too. Right?

“All right, let’s finish this show so I can get my dance.” I winked as Sadie sat.

The rest of the set went by in a blur. The main thing I noticed was not one man went up to Sadie after my little speech. Damn right! Hopping off the stage, I headed straight for Sadie. I leaned into her ear and whispered, “You owe me a dance.”

“I don’t owe you anything.”

“Come on. You don’t wanna disappoint all the guys here who think they have a shot?”

“No guys have a shot. None.” She glared at me.

I couldn’t help but smile. She was too damn cute when she was pissed off.

“It’s just a dance. No big deal. Come on.” I knew I was egging her on, but couldn’t stop. I hadn’t had this much fun with a woman in a long time. Women were always too easy, and it drove me nuts. Sadie saying no … well, it was entertaining.

I saw Lauryn lean into Sadie and whisper something in her ear. Sadie glared at her and rolled her eyes.

“Fine. One dance.”

I held out my hand. She slid her delicate hand in mine. Pulling her to the dance floor, I could feel the eyes on us. Every guy there wanted to be me at the moment … tough shit for them.

The music was slow, and I wrapped my arms around Sadie’s waist. Looking in her beautiful blue-grey eyes, I could see some indecision there. I’m not repulsive; I knew that. Sadie wrapped her arms around my neck. I pulled her closer to me, thinking she would resist, but she didn’t.

“I won’t bite. I promise,” I said in her ear.

“I won’t let you.”

Her response made me smile. “Come on. Just have fun.”

It took most of the song before she finally took my advice. Her body pulled closer to mine, and she rested her head on my shoulder. Having her wrapped around me was intoxicating. I inhaled her sweet smell of strawberries and vanilla. I kept inhaling not knowing if I would ever be this close to her again. I wanted this smell etched in my brain. I guess I liked torture.

“You know as soon as we’re done, the guys will be all over you again,” I whispered in her ear.

“No they won’t. I’m getting ready to leave.”

“Why are you leaving so early?”It stunned me. I thought for sure she would stay a while.

“I don’t like all the attention. It’s just best I go.” Her head still resting on my shoulder made each puff of breath she sent out of her mouth send sparks throughout my body.

I needed to turn my body down, but it had a mind of its own.

“I’ll tell you what. You stay. Stay by me, and I’ll keep them away.”

Sadie pulled away from me, looking me in the eye. “Why would you do that?”

Silly girl. “Because you are new, and you deserve to have fun. And I get the most beautiful woman here on my arm for the night. It’s a win all around.”

“Thanks, but it’ll just be better if I go.”

“Please stay.” Okay, yes, I was fucking begging. Damn it, I never beg, and here I was practically on my knees asking her to stay with me. I wish I could read Sadie’s mind. I would love to know the thoughts that were swimming around in there.

She seemed to be thinking it over for a minute. “Only for a little bit, then I gotta go.”

The smile spread across my face, and I felt as if I won a prize. “Great.”

Moving to Williamsfield, Georgia is not what she wants … it’s what she needs. An escape—from him.

After being brutally abused for years, Sadie seeks sanctuary and safety. But can she ever be safe when evil has his eyes on her from afar.

Landon doesn’t want a relationship. He’s been burned too badly to want anything more from a woman than the physical, but one look at Sadie and he’s rethinking everything.

Can trust be formed when it’s been so beaten down? Can love conquer fears? What happens when evil doesn’t give up? Can Sadie ever really be safe?

**Please note. This book contains the very difficult subject of physical abuse and has a nonconsensual sexual scene. It also has a very strong woman who learns to heal from these acts and finds the kind of love we all dream of having.

"Sadie, I want to be with you more than you could possibly know. But before I do, I want you to know and be confident that you're not a just anyone. I want you to know how I feel about you. I want you to feel me."- Safe by Ryan Michele

Deliver Exclusive Excerpt: Meet Joshua Carter & His Deliverer

On his back, muscles bared, bound, and stretched the full length of the box, he was an erotic picture. She was a criminal, and as ashamed as she was by that, the disgusting, fucked-up part of her anticipated spending the next ten weeks touching every inch of this man.

She dragged her gaze from his body to his face, and guilt slammed into her.

He stared up at her with so much pain in his eyes. “Don’t hurt my parents.”

Her gut twisted. She knew that pain, lived it every day. She leaned in, lips hovering a breath away, and repeated what her boss had said to her. “That’s up to you.”

Resolve hardened his face. She knew that emotion, too. Her time in the box was permanently carved in memory. Tendrils of resentment coiled around her throat. To dwell on her or the boy’s future would only bring irresponsible hesitation. So, she did what she always did to distract her thoughts.

She reached into the cold place inside her, searching for something yearning she could sing with dispassion. The beginning verses of “What It Is” by Kodaline fell past her lips and shivered through the room. She sang with icy pitch as she removed a blindfold from the trunk by the box, and tied it over his wide, glaring eyes.

To deprive smell, a swimmer’s nose plug went on next. He could breathe through his mouth, and the cracks in the box allowed airflow, but it wouldn’t feel that way to him once she shut the lid.

The skin on his face was hot and damp, the muscles beneath jerking against her fingers. She continued to sing as she cuffed headphones over his ears, plugged them into the tablet outside of the box, and activated the timer. Twenty minutes of heart-hammering silence.

The music in her voice strangled, stopped. Twenty minutes alone with his thoughts, then the misery would begin.

“It’s just the way it is,” she murmured, wooden.

His body was motionless, but she didn’t miss the goosebumps creeping across his skin, or the slight tremor in his cheeks. The sudden desire to comfort him drew her closer, bending her at the waist, until her mouth brushed his, softly, unjustly. His lips pulled away in a quiver that she felt throughout her body.

She straightened, and rubbed her breastbone, unable to soothe the ache beneath it. “I’m so sorry.” A whisper, too low to reach his ears.

Then she closed the lid.

Character Interview with Tate & Jared!
Regret, Forgiveness, Love & Their Future

Questions for Tate & Jared:

What is your biggest regret in life?
Tate: Not fighting back sooner. Maybe if Jared and I had engaged more, we would’ve fought through what was wrong much earlier.
Jared:  Hurting the only person that was ever truly there for me.

If you had a do over of any one event in your life, what would it be and why?
Jared: When I left my brother. I know I should say the moment I started to hurt Tate, but I have no idea what happened to Jax after I left. What really happened in the basement. I wish I’d been more brave, because I let him down. I abandoned him.
Tate: The first time Jared humiliated me at school freshman year. I should’ve kicked him in the balls.
Jared: *rolls eyes* Yeah, that would’ve solved my problem.
Tate: Well, it  would’ve made me feel better.

Aren't they adorable?! Psst, we approve Tate!

What is the one word that comes to mind when you think of Tate/Jared?

Jared: Storm
Tate: Kiss

What do you love most about the other?
Tate: I like the way he looks at me. It’s like at any second he’ll throw me over his shoulder and carry me off to the closest secluded spot.
Jared: I love her fight. She pushes back and has me feeling five different emotions all at once. I feel alive.

What's next for you both as individuals and a couple?
Tate: Jared’s applying to schools, and I’m planning to leave for New York in the fall. We want to be close to each other, but we know the next step is a scary one. It’ll be hard to part and be separated for even a day.

Questions for Tate:

How did you really feel when your best friend started to hook up with Jared, because you handled it much better than I would of?
I was very upset, as you saw. But I cared more about surviving Jared than confronting my best friend. I didn’t want him to win. He couldn’t win.

What happened in Paris to make your come back such a strong person?
Nothing extraordinary. Traveling , especially in a foreign country, gives you self-awareness and confidence. I knew who I was when I came back. I trusted that I could handle myself.

What was the most hurtful thing Jared did to you?
Just every mean thing he ever said. The words coming from his mouth hurt so much more than his actions.

What made you decide to help Jared out by driving in that race? You had the perfect opportunity to get back at him there.
Oh, I just wanted to race! I wasn’t letting Jared or anyone else ruin that high.

Why did you forgive Jared?
Because he deserved a chance. We had a past—memories—and I trusted that the past few years weren’t the real him. He was worth a try.
Picture
Questions for Jared
(he is so sexay!):

What made you finally break when it came to Tate? The poem Tate read in class?
The kiss?
The poem. When I knew that she always cared. That she always loved me. And when I kissed her, and she kissed me back, I was hungrier than I’d ever been. I wanted more, and knowing she wanted more, was like all the anger and resentment turned into an appetite for something else.

What were you most afraid of if Tate learned about what happened to you with your Dad & Jax?
I was afraid she would see me as weak for letting that get in our way.

What was your reason for hooking up with Tate's best friend?
Make Tate hate me. I knew I wouldn’t be able to walk away from her, so I thought that if I turned her best friend against her, then she’d truly be done with me.

Why didn't you just MAN UP and talk to Tate in the first place?
I ask myself that all the time.

Thank you Tate & Jared! Big Love from TRSOR!

Until You Excerpt: Tate is Home

Pulling up the window and leaning out, I spied the branch sliding against the panes above me. With him gone, I’d have to take care of that tomorrow.

The rain was coming down in sheets and made everything glisten under the bright glow of the streetlights. I let my gaze wander through the maze of branches, shaking off memories of which ones I’d scraped my leg on or which ones I’d sat on with Tate.

I loved the damn tree, and I wanted it cut down.

And then…I didn’t even see the tree anymore.

My eyes caught sunshine in a midnight sky, and I fucking stilled.

Tate?

“What the hell?” I whispered, breathless and not blinking.

She was standing in her bedroom, leaning on the doorframe of her open French doors. And she was staring at me.

What the hell am I seeing right now?

She was supposed to be in Germany with her dad, at least until Christmas.

Every muscle in my body tightened as I supported myself on the window sill, but I couldn’t tear my eyes from her. It was like I was in an alternate universe, starving, and she was a fucking buffet.

She was home.

I closed my eyes for a moment and swallowed down my heartbeat that was creeping up my throat. I was sick, excited, and grateful all at the same time.

Jesus, she’s home.

She wore some little pajama shorts and a white tank top. Not really so different from what I’d noticed she wore to bed a year ago, but for some reason, the sight of her was like a raging fire through my chest. I wanted to rip through the fucking tree and peel all the clothes off of her and love her like the past three years had never happened.

Her hair blew around her, and I could feel her eyes, locked in shadow, on me.

My mouth was dry, and the rush of breath and blood through my body felt so damn good.

Until she backed up and closed the doors.

No. I swallowed, not wanting her to go away.

Go on. Go pick a fight, I told myself, but I shook my head.

No. Just leave her alone. She hasn’t been thinking about me, and I needed to get over it.

I was crawling the walls inside my head, knowing for fact that I needed to grow up and let her be. Let her go to school without rumors and pranks hovering over her. Let her be happy. We were nearly adults now, and this petty shit had to end.

But…

I’d just felt more alive in the past ten seconds than I had in a year.

Seeing that face, knowing I’d wake up to her blaring music and seeing her leave the house to jog in the morning…

My phone buzzed with a text, and I walked over to check it.

It was from Tate’s dad.

Change of plans. Tate’s home. On her own until Christmas. Give her back the house key, and be nice. Or else.

I narrowed my eyes, rereading the text over and over again.

I don’t even think I breathed.

She was alone? Until Christmas?

I closed my eyes, and let out a laugh.

And all of a sudden I was as thrilled as hell to wake up tomorrow.

NEW ADULT ROMANCE---UNTIL YOU (Book 1.5 in the Fall Away Series)

***This book contains graphic sexual content, harsh language, and violence. It is intended for ages 18+.

Have you ever been so angry that hitting things felt good? Or so numb that you actually felt high? The past few years have been like that for me. Traveling between fury and indifference with no stops in between.

Some people hate me for it, while others are scared of me. But none of them can hurt me, because I don't care about anything or anyone.

Except Tatum.

I love her so much that I hate her. I hate that I can't let her go. We used to be friends, but I found out that I couldn't trust her or anyone else.

So I hurt her. I pushed her away.

But I still need her. She centers me, and I can pool all of my anger into her. Engaging, challenging, bullying her--call it what you will--but it's my food, my air, and the last part of me that feels anything human.

But then she went and screwed everything up. She left. She went to France for a year and came back a different girl.

Now, when I push, she pushes back.

*This is Jared's point of view and a companion novel to BULLY. It can be read as a stand alone, but reading BULLY first is strongly encouraged. Having Tate's point of view will help you appreciate Jared's side more. This is NOT Bully re-told.

This is Jared's story.

My name is Tate. He doesn't call me that, though. He would never refer to me so informally, if he referred to me at all. No, he'll barely even speak to me.

But he still won't leave me alone.

We were best friends once. Then he turned on me and made it his mission to ruin my life. I've been humiliated, shut out, and gossiped about all through high school. His pranks and rumors got more sadistic as time wore on, and I made myself sick trying to stay out of his way. I even went to France for a year, just to avoid him.

But I'm done hiding from him now, and there's no way in hell I'll allow him to ruin my senior year. He might not have changed, but I have. It's time to fight back.

*This novel contains adult/mature young adult situations. It is only suitable for ages 18+ due to language, violence, and sexual situations.

Excerpt

I tugged harder. “Hello? Earth to Finn.”

Finn finally looked down at me, his hot eyes searing into mine. He seemed to shake off whatever he’d been thinking. “Yeah. I’m here.”

“Good.” I smiled at him, my heart skipping a beat when he placed his hand on the small of my back. His hard chest pressed against mine, making me want to press closer and rub up against him like a stripper doing a lap dance. “You ready?”

“Hell yeah,” Finn said, leading me toward his bike. He glanced over his shoulder, his brow furrowed, and his eyes on where Cory probably still stood. “That took a lot more self-control than I thought I had, I’ll have you know.”

“Why?”

“I don’t like him.”

“I know, but he’s harmless enough.”

“Yeah.” Finn snorted. “As harmless as a sniper.”

I looked back at Cory. He wore a lavender shirt, was going to school

to become a doctor, and had manicured nails. He turned and walked away, his stride slow and laid-back, just like he was. Call me crazy, but that didn’t exactly scream dangerous thug to me. “I just don’t see what you see.”

“It’s simple, really. He likes you. I don’t like him,’” Finn said, grabbing my helmet off the bike. “Need I say more?”

He stuck my helmet under the crook of his elbow and smoothed my hair from my face. With his hands on either side of my head, he leaned down and pressed his mouth to mine, stealing my breath away with a simple kiss. My stomach twisted in knots, and my heart thudded in my ears.

When he pulled back, he ran his thumb over my lower lip and gave me a small smile. The way my body reacted to the simple touch, he might as well have stripped naked in the street. His blue eyes skimmed over my body, making me tense with anticipation. “Were you a good girl today?”

“Of course I was,” I answered instantly. “When am I not?”

“If you got down on your knees with my cock in your mouth,” he said, his gaze fastened on my mouth. “You’d be pretty damned bad then.”

Finn.”

My cheeks heated and so did other parts of my body. Namely, in between my legs. I’d be lucky if I made it home before jumping his bones. And man, I wanted to do what he described now that he’d put the image in my head.

I wanted to kneel at his feet and taste him with my tongue, sucking him in deeper and deeper until he came in my--

“Hello?” He waved his hand in front of my face, his lips curved into a smile. “Did I break you?”

I licked my lips and he watched me hungrily, his gaze flashing as he read my expression. “Nope, not broken. I want to go home and do exactly what you just said, so hurry the heck up, will you?”

Dream Cast & Author Commentary

People like to ask me what my dream cast would be Out of Time. Lucky for me, I’ve always had a very distinct vision of who I would love to play Carrie and Finn. Now, if only I could make my dream into a movie? That would be sweet! ;)

Let's see. First up, we'd have to focus on Finn, of course. All along, I've always felt Finn would be best played by Liam Hemsworth. Yep, the swoon, dreamy, age-appropriate younger Hemsworth brother. There’s just something about him that screams Finn to me—plus…he can actually surf. That would be a huge plus, if Finn ever came to the big screen, don't you think?!

Carrie has always been pretty clear in my head, too. t I think my favorite actress to play her would have to be Emma Roberts. I think she could carry the part with ease, and she has the right hair/smile/laugh for Carrie, too. Her and Liam together just might be perfection!

Then to round out the cast, we’d have Candice Accola as Marie. She plays the role of Caroline on Vampire Diaries with a perfection no one else can hit for Marie.

Then we'd have Chord Overstreet as Cory. If you don't know who he is, watch Glee. He's got the baby-boy, sweet, trust-fund baby face down to a tee, plus the right hair and eyes.

And last but not least? Aaron Tveit as Riley. He would bring the silly quirky character, with a side of serious and smart, to the table quite nicely!! Who is Riley, you might ask?

Well, you’ll find out in Out of Time. ;)

What do you think of this casting call? Do you see a different actor/actress in these roles?

Just when Chloe’s career starts to take off, Bennett wishes it would all slow down long enough to spend a wild night alone with his girlfriend. But after he refuses to take no for an answer, Chloe and Bennett find themselves with two plane tickets, one French Villa, and a surprising conversation that, predictably, leaves them wrestling under the covers.

A charming British Playboy. A girl determined to finally live. And a secret liaison revealed in all too vivid color. Book two in the NYT Bestselling series.

Escaping a cheating ex, finance whiz Sara Dillon's moved to New York City and is looking for excitement without a lot of strings attached. So meeting the irresistible, sexy Brit at a dance club should have meant nothing more than a night's fun. But the manner--and speed--with which he melts her inhibitions turns him from a one-time hookup and into her Beautiful Stranger.

The whole city knows Max Stella loves women, not that he's ever found one he particularly wants to keep around. Despite pulling in plenty with his Wall Street bad boy charm, it's not until Sara--and the wild photos she lets him take of her--that he starts wondering if there's someone for him outside of the bedroom.

Hooking up in places where anybody could catch them, the only thing scarier for Sara than getting caught in public is having Max get too close in private.

Three Broken Promises Exclusive Excerpt - Coming December 31

Picture
His lips are warm and soft, the kiss simple. My emotions are anything but, colliding within me and dying to get out. Chaotic and out of control, as I realize this is the very first time our lips have actually touched. We’ve kissed each other’s cheeks and foreheads, but never lips.

I’ve wanted this for far too long, but I think . . . no, I know he’s half asleep. He probably doesn’t even realize what he’s doing . . . does he? He called me Jennifer and he never, ever calls me that. I’m simply Jen.

Good ol’ I-can-always-count-on-her Jen.

Colin releases his hold on one of my hands and reaches for me, cupping my face, his thumb caressing my cheek as he turns more fully toward me. His chest brushes against mine, my nipples harden almost painfully, and I slide my hands up his chest, over his pecs, winding them around his neck so I can bury my fingers into his silky, soft hair.

I love touching him. Hate how secretive it always is, under the cover of darkness, the shroud of nightmares, the bleakness of night. I have my own secrets that I hide. Ugly, terrible things I’m desperate to keep locked inside. If he ever found out, I know he’d never look at me the same again.

This time between us is different, though. Our mouths cling to each other, our lips slowly parting with every pass, but I refuse to be the first one to take this deeper.

Refuse? More like I’m too scared to take this deeper. What if he turns me away? I don’t think I could deal with that.

“God, what you do to me.” He murmurs the words against my lips, his breath hot as he exhales shakily. His other hand is at my hip, nestling me closer, and I can feel him. Every blessed, hot inch of his bare, firm skin, the boxer briefs he wears, the thrust of his erection beneath them.

A matching shuddery breath leaves me when I realize he’s hard. His hand slips up my cheek, into my hair, until his fingers are at the back of my head, tightening around the long strands until I have no choice but to bend my head back, my new tattoo aching, the adhesive from the bandage tugging the few hairs that are captured beneath it.

It hurts, but I revel in the pain. Because it means I’m alive and Colin is touching me, kissing me. I want more.

So much more than what I’m willing to ask for.

He shifts his position, towering over me, dominating me, and a delicious shiver runs over my skin and through my veins, settling between my legs.

“I could take you like this.” His hips thrust against mine, a slow, sensual roll that nearly makes my eyes cross. I try my best to withhold the whimper of pleasure that wants to escape, but it’s no use. “Would you like that?” he asks, his perfect full lips tilting up at the corners. He’s looking right at me, his lids lowered, his gaze smoldering and nearly setting me on fire.

Drew + Fable FOREVER Exclusive Teaser - Coming January 14

Picture
The tears fall silently, one after another, sliding down my cheeks, dripping from my jaw to land on the ground. But these aren’t tears of sadness, they’re happy. I’ve come full circle. I remember the last time he left me a letter like this, when I didn’t see the hidden message at first. When I’d been so overcome with desolation and loneliness. That letter had given me hope and though he’d let me down at first, he’d eventually come back into my life the way he was meant to.

Now, we belong to each other. And though he’s busy and consumed with his new career, nervous over it, starting a new life with me, and fully reconciling with his father, he still takes the time to write me a sweet little poem that lets me know exactly how he feels.

He’s still in need of the occasional rescue. And I’m the only one who can really save him.

Author Bio: Meet Sylvain Reynard

I'm interested in the way literature can help us explore aspects of the human condition - particularly suffering, sex, love, faith, and redemption. My favourite stories are those in which a character takes a journey, either a physical journey to a new and exciting place, or a personal journey in which he or she learns something about himself/herself.

I'm also interested in how aesthetic elements such as art, architecture, and music can be used to tell a story or to illuminate the traits of a particular character. In my writing, I combine all of these elements with the themes of redemption, forgiveness, and the transformative power of goodness.

I try to use my platform as an author to raise awareness about the following charities: Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep Foundation, WorldVision, Alex's Lemonade Stand, and Covenant House. For more information, see my Twitter account.

We are kicking off our Blogiversary with our beloved and my personal favorite BBF: Travis Maddox. We're honored to spotlight A Beautiful Wedding, by Jamie McGuire, novella 2.5 of Jamie's Beautiful series.

Travis Maddox will always have a very special place in my heart and this quote perfectly describes why Jamie created a character that so many readers love and unapologetically obsess over, "Travis is the most tender hearted. He will love you with everything he has for as long as you let him." Diane's letter to Abby is the most heartbreaking and powerful scene - you will feel every word. An incredibly poignant moment for Abby & Travis and for every reader/fan who have been touched by their journey and love story.

The events that lead up to the wedding were suspenseful, the ceremony and vows were breathtaking, and the wedding night was sensual and passionate. It was everything I didn't know I needed... but Jamie knew - she gave us the ending we all craved for in our hearts. It reaffirmed for me that Jamie can write a book about Travis and Abby being domesticated with babies or living in a retirement home in their 90s and I will still read and devour it, as long as I can continue to read how sweetly and achingly Travis says, "Pidge."

Today enjoy some of our favorite moments and enter to win a Hardcover Paperback of A Beautiful Wedding. We were lucky enough to get an early copy and it is gorgeous! You definitely want this one on your coveted bookshelf. 3 Winners! Open Internationally! Good Luck!

Beautiful Broken Mess Excerpt: Meet Jace and Audrey

I stalk forward, causing Audrey to reverse slowly. After fifteen steps or so, she backs into a large tree trunk. My hands hit the tree on either side of her face.

“It’s not fair that every time I see you, you look even more delicious than the last,” I whisper into her neck.

“I don’t think you realize what you’re doing right now.” She shivers under my lips.

“Why did things have to get so screwed up?” I ask, dragging my lips across hers. “Do you think we would be together if you hadn’t run into Jax?” I know I’ll regret this tomorrow, but I really don’t care right now.

“I can’t let myself think about things like that, Jace.” Her words are said like a prayer.

“Do you still think about me?” I whisper, while running a finger up the inside of her bare leg.

I feel her tremble before she admits, “Every single day.”

“Well, at least I’m not alone.”

My lips graze across her soft, plump ones. Her eyelashes flutter and she relaxes into me with closed eyes. I run my tongue across her bottom lip lazily before giving the same treatment to the top one. Her breath hitches when I lean back a fraction, and then ever so slowly I move in. I want to drag this out. I never got my moment with her so tonight I want to take my time.

Our lips finally touch and she moans with pleasure. My fingers drag upwards from the back of her neck into her loose curls and I pull her in tighter. Her hands brace themselves on my chest. Gradually, the slow, lazy kiss becomes heated and needy.

When her hands glide down and skim across my waist, I pull back instantly. Grabbing her hand, I quickly start dragging her off toward the driveway. We both need to get out of here before any other thoughts enter my head. When we finally reach Jax’s black ‘67 Camaro, I realize she’s tugging on my hand.

“Jace, where are we going?”

“I need you without an audience.”

Audrey Mills often wonders at what point she should throw her hands up in defeat and allow all of the horrible circumstances of her life to overtake her. Despite the demons she has faced, however, something inside her won’t give in. When she leaves her small town in Texas to attend college in California, Audrey runs into the one guy who could make her or break her. But is the past they share too painful for them to overcome?

This is the second book in the broken series. While each book can stand on its own, it's recommended you read Beautiful Broken Rules before Beautiful Broken Mess.

Author Bio: Meet Kimberly Lauren!

I'm a wanderer, an adventurer, a traveler.

I want to see it all. I haven't been everywhere but it's on my list.

"She travels the world & home is always in her heart."

Lately if I'm not traveling or chasing a toddler, I'm writing. Which is weird because I hated writing in college. Oh wait, that's because that was boring. Who really wants to sit there and cite all your sources into APA format? Not this girl. Writing for yourself is enjoyable and cathartic. Please try it. Then tell me about because I love indie authors.

When I was 19, I packed up and followed my high school sweetheart from Texas to California. We had a blast living it up in San Diego. Four years later we made a crazy decision and packed up again and moved to Germany. What? Yep, you read that right. Guess what? Best decision ever! We OWNED Europe. For three years we saw as much as we possibly could. We lived an hour outside of France, a couple from Switzerland and Italy. Most amazing time of my life. Please go out there and see the world, you won't regret it. After Europe we moved back to California, and for now we're just debating our next adventure.

I earned a degree in Child Development. And now I write novels. Makes perfect sense! I write because I walk around all day with these stories in my head. It's nice to be able to get them out of my head in an organized fashion. I hope that someone out there enjoys them, because I have enjoyed so many others'.

Catch Me Prologue & Teaser

Prologue
Eight Years ago

My eyes burn from tears that mask my eyes but refuse to fall as I stare out into the ocean. Focusing on the waves crashing the rocks below, my eyes trail along the water. A body of blue so big and wondrous that I can’t decide where it begins and where it ends, because it doesn’t—the ocean doesn’t have a beginning and an ending, it just is. Much like me, it just is. Except I do have an end, and that ocean is it for me. I clutch the red bars before me when sobs threaten to overtake me, thoughts of the hell I’ve been living seeping through my memories. Closing my eyes, I see his strawberry hair and the light freckles that paint over his beautiful smile, and the pain stabs me harder.

The reality of what I did spreads through me as the sobs consume me. I killed him. I killed him. The only person who was ever there for me, the one that showed me what love was supposed to be, and I killed him. Tears stain my face and my dyed blonde hair, wild from the turbulent wind, sticks to it. I try to swallow back my broken cries as I look around, my eyes squinting at the sign beside me that reads: Hope. My shoulders shake as new tears rise and my throat opens up with cries that refuse to be held back.

Then I see him, or he sees me. I close my eyes to the wind once more, relishing the feel of its caress against my skin before opening them and looking into the pools in his eyes.

“What are you doing here?” he asks.

I mirror his question, unable to find my own thoughts.

“Looking for you,” he mutters, rendering me speechless.

I open my mouth to speak again but uncontrollable shivers invade my body making it impossible for me to form words. My eyes roll back shakily and panic floods through me because I can’t see him anymore. I can’t see the boy that found me.

I can only see the one I failed.

The one no longer here.

He’s gone … and so am I.

Excerpt
I’m suddenly finding it hard to breathe and it has nothing to do with the dancing. I look around and catch Nina’s profile as she speaks to Skylar over by the bar. She’s completely enthralled in her conversation and I wonder if she even remembers I’m here. When Nick lifts up my hair from my back and drapes it over one of my shoulders, I close my eyes, completely forgetting about Nina. Nick wipes the beads of sweat on the back of my neck and blows on me. He may think he’s cooling me, but his breath on my neck is making me shiver heat.

I feel him brush the spot in between my shoulder blades with his lips, and I throw my head back to his chest. We’re still swaying along to the beat of the music, but it feels like our dance is much more sensual than the music that’s playing. His hands begin to inch upward again, and again I place my hands over them, effectively stopping him.

“I’m not going to cop a feel, Brooklyn. You can relax,” he says, his voice husky.

I shake my head letting him know I won’t relax, even though my eyes are still closed and my head is lulled against him. I turn myself around to face him again when the song comes to an end and he dips his head close enough that I can see his beautiful ocean eyes before he places a kiss on my cheek. I suck in a breath as he brushes his lips softly up to my ear.

“You look beautiful, by the way. The most gorgeous girl in this place,” he murmurs as he lets go of my arm and turns to leave.

In the past, I've always been given everything I've wanted, but nothing that I truly needed. I've experienced a lot of things in my twenty-five years, everything except the one thing I want. It's the one thing that can’t be bought. It can't even be taken, it has to be given. And nobody has ever given it to me, not really anyway.

Not until him.

Music is the center of both our lives, but as he found his place in it, I lost my way. He soared, while I spiraled down a destructive path.
I lost myself in more ways than I can count.

The ironic thing is that I didn’t realize how lost I was until he found me.

And now that he has, I have to wonder if he'll stay around long enough to catch me.

"Men are fucking stupid. That's why they think women are complicated. Women want three things. Three simple things: Keep your dick in your pants. Be honest with us. Worship us. That's it. That's all. You motherfuckers can't do all three
without getting your brain mixed up."
