It’s the first sunrise of many more to come. You can’t screw it up. If you do, there’s always tomorrow.” - Where Sea Meets Sky by Karina Halle A lot of my books are greatly influenced by music and Where Sea Meets Sky is no exception. When I first traveled to New Zealand, I was eighteen years old and alone. But I never felt completely alone because I had a soundtrack to my entire trip – the soundtrack to the movie Almost Famous. Listening to the songs even now brings me back to sitting on the back of the bus, careening down the narrow roads of the South Island. I wanted my characters Josh and Gemma to have something equally as epic to accompany their journey, combined with the timeless quality of classic rock. They happen to journey through the country in Gemma’s uncle’s loaned orange VW bus, nicknamed “Mr. Orange” and they only have a few cassette tapes to listen to… “But,” Gemma says, flashing me a quick smile in the rear view mirror, “my uncle left us all his cassette tapes. I hope you like Pink Floyd because he only has The Wall, Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, and Meddle.” I do like Pink Floyd, though I can tell the music will color the trip a little differently. But driving round New Zealand in an old VW van seems like the perfect time to listen to them. Later on in the story, they get one more cassette tape added to the mix, The Best of Free by Free (Paul Rodgers is the bomb), but it’s still a very 70’s rock feel. Without further ado, here are some of the more poignant songs used during the book, as well as some extras I may have listened to for mood and content. (PS, just as music forever colors my travel memories, I can’t listen to Pink Floyd now without thinking I went to New Zealand with Josh and Gemma…funny how that works). - “One of These Days” – Pink Floyd (from Meddle) – this song is the first that they hear on their trip, slowly setting the tumultuous mood. - “Fearless” – Pink Floyd (from Meddle) – being fearless become somewhat of a theme in this book and Josh latches onto this song. - “Breathe (In the Air)” – Pink Floyd (from Dark Side of the Moon) – this calm, spacey jam is the music you’d hear while driving past sheep-filled green hills underneath a dizzying blue sky - “Time” – Pink Floyd (from Darks Side of the Moon) – Because time is what you’re always running out of on vacation, isn’t it? The countdown to heartbreak is on for Josh and Gemma and this song especially resonates with Gemma later in the book. “And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking Racing around to come up behind you again The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.” - “Shine on You Crazy Diamond” – Pink Floyd (From Wish You Were Here) – Because Gemma is a wee bit crazy but Josh can’t seem to keep away. - “Wish You Were Here” – Pink Floyd (From Wish You Were Here) – Cuz things get sad. - “Mother” – Pink Floyd (from The Wall) – Josh and Gemma both have some mother issues - “Young Lust” – Pink Floyd (from The Wall) – the title pretty much sums it up. Young Lust for both of them. - “Hey You” – Pink Floyd (from The Wall) – “Hey you ! don't help them to bury the light
Don't give in without a fight” Josh tries many times to break through Gemma’s thorny defenses, to keep her open and prevent her from shutting down and shutting him out. It’s not always easy. He thinks this song about her. - “Comfortably Numb” – Pink Floyd (from The Wall) – This is Gemma’s song. She sings it often and it epitomizes every part of her. She is numb, she is shut down, and it’s going to take a passionate, tireless boy like Josh to finally break her free. - “Fire and Water” – Free (from The Best of Free) – “I don't wanna say goodbye mama But look at the way you made me cry Every way that's nice you show You've got a heart that's made of ice And I know.” – Josh slow dances on the beach with Gemma to this song. So very fitting for her. - “All Right Now” – Free (from The Best of Free) – Because, finally, things are freaking all right…now! - “Damned if She Do” – The Kills (from Blood Pressures) - “Nail in my Coffin” – The Kills (from Blood Pressures) - “I’m Not Driving Anymore” – Rob Dougan (Furious Angels) Joshua Miles has spent his early twenties spinning his wheels. Working dead-end jobs and living at home has left him exhausted and uninspired, with little energy to pursue his passion for graphic art. Until he meets Gemma Henare, a vivacious out-of-towner from New Zealand. What begins as a one-night stand soon becomes a turning point for Josh. He can’t get Gemma out of his head, even after she has left for home, and finds himself throwing caution to the wind for the first time in his life. It’s not long before Josh is headed to New Zealand with only a backpack, some cash, and Gemma’s name to go on. But when he finally tracks her down, he finds his adventure is only just beginning. Equally infatuated, Gemma leads him on a whirlwind tour across the beautiful country, opening Josh up to life, lust, love, and all the messy heartache in between. Because, when love drags you somewhere, it might never let go—even when you know you have to say goodbye. Read an excerpt & enter to win a SIGNED Paperback & $10 Gift Card #KillorDie Excerpt I lay in Kevin’s arms for longer than I could calculate, staring out the window and watching as the sky grew darker. Part of me wished we could stay like this forever, in this place the world seemed to have forgotten about, away from everything bad and horrible and dark. That might have been nice, but there was still the question of my kids…and the rest of my family. I needed to know they were all right, had to find out where they were. I didn’t know how the hell I was going to do that or when, but I needed to. Up against my body, he felt strong where I felt weak, warm where I could only sense cold. He had become to me everything I always knew he was, and the realization that I had fallen in love with him again struck me hard. It had been an easy slide, one I hadn’t even known I was on until my feet were back on the ground. I decided there, in his arms, that I wasn’t going to fight it. But I also wasn’t going to acknowledge it. After our weird past as teens, I didn’t know what to expect from him in the aftermath. I only knew this moment, and I was going to cherish it, hold it tightly in my heart like I might clench a locket in my fist, and then I was going to let tomorrow bring what it would. I would leave this room with no expectations, no hope. It was something I’d grown pretty good at over the years. As if he could read my mind, he said, “We should probably head back.” “Yeah, I was thinking that. I think a storm’s moving in, don’t you?” I turned around in his arms. Part of me didn’t want to. I was sad—profoundly—but felt like I shouldn’t be drowning in that emotion. I didn’t want to give away anything in my head. His voice was soft when he said, “Yeah, I think so, so we shouldn’t screw around.” I smiled in spite of myself. “A little late.” He grinned too, and I imagined that he was feeling inside the same way I was but also wanted to try to put on a happy face. But he pulled me close and kissed me tenderly. He didn’t say anything, though, even after his lips left mine. I wanted to acknowledge the significance of his earlier revelation, even though part of me was afraid to go there, so afraid of what the truth was. But I had to know. “Do you really remember me…or were you just saying that?” Kill or Die Nina Hardwick has had a rough life since leaving high school, but inside she is still the girl looking for a silver lining. The past several years have left their toll on her psyche, and just as she feels like she’s climbing out of a deep abyss, her life and the lives of millions of others fall into shambles as a virus overtakes the country and leaves a plague of undead armies scouring the land. In a desperate attempt to get away from the infected, Nina and some neighbors speed out of town, nearly killing a man on a motorcycle. When they stop to rescue him, Nina realizes that he is the one man from her past she never got over, the guy who should have been her high school sweetheart until she messed it up. But this unrequited love, Kevin Savage, says he doesn’t even remember her. Or does he? Nina, Kevin, and her neighbors head to the wilderness and fight to survive not only the plague but also hunger, cold, their inner demons…and even each other. Will they survive and, more importantly, will her heart? Meet the author Jade C. Jamison was born and raised in Colorado and has decided she likes it enough to stay forever. Full Contact by Sarah Castille is the newest addition to the Redemption Series. Meet Ray & Sia in this sexy, fighter series in two excerpts! And, be sure to pre-order for an April 7th release! Excerpt #1 My gaze drifts below his belt, to the bulge in his jeans. He is fully erect, his shaft straining against his fly. A naughty thrill of excitement shoots through my veins. He’s aroused because of me.
“Um...do you want to take a break before I apply the stencil?”
He shakes his head, then leans forward and sweeps his hand through my hair, letting the strands slide through his fingers. A sigh escapes my lips as delicious sensations sweep through my body. I am on fire. And although I’ve been with men before, I’ve never been immobilized by a single touch.
“So soft.” He runs his hand over my hair again, this time trailing his fingers along my shoulder. His thumb glides over my throat and he curls his hand around my neck. “So fucking delicate.”
I am burning. Consumed by fire. A burst of need drives a whimper up my throat, and I choke it back as his thumb circles the sensitive hollow at the base of my neck. Firm. Unyielding. Dominant. With one squeeze, he could break me. The way I was broken before. The way he broke the butterfly. And yet nothing could tear me away from this moment.
“Sia.” He says my name softly, drawing out the last syllable in a gravelly murmur, almost like a prayer.
My brain fuzzes with lust, and I surrender to the thrill of his touch, the pounding of my pulse in my veins, the desire that has haunted me since I first saw him in the ring. My head falls back, my lips part, and I drown in the depths of an azure sea.
With a low groan, Ray turns sideways in the chair, dropping his legs to the floor. With his hand still cupped around my neck, he pulls me between his legs, the casters on my stool squeaking in gentle protest. I circle my arms around his neck and my breasts rub against his bare chest. The press of his erection against my stomach sends a rush of moisture to my sex.
“Jesus Christ.” His voice drops husky and low. “You’re killing me.”
He leans down and sweeps my hair behind my shoulder, then nuzzles my neck. Sensation sears through my body and I tilt my head to the side to give him better access. So unprofessional. What if Slim comes out? Overcome with the fulfillment of a year’s worth of longing, I can’t bring myself to care.
He feathers kisses over my cheek and I lick my lips in anticipation. This is really happening. He’s going to kiss me again. A real hands-on- the-body Predator kiss.
A bell tinkles behind me. Damn front door. Damn customers who come after hours. I’m not turning around. I want my kiss.
Ray glances up and stiffens. “Holy shit.”
Book Summary & Pre-order link Release Date: April 7th Ray wraps his arms around me and holds me tight as if something terrible has happened and he doesn't want to let me go.
Full Contact. This is how Ray speaks when his emotions overwhelm him. I melt into his stillness. His body is hot and hard, his breath warm on my neck. He smells of leather and sweat, sex and sin. Nothing can tear me away.
When you can't resist the one person who could destroy you...
Sia O'Donnell can't help but push the limits. She secretly attends every underground MMA fight featuring The Predator, the undisputed champion. When he stalks his prey in the ring, Sia is mesmerized. He is dominant and dangerous and every instinct tells her to run.
Every beautiful thing Ray "The Predator" touches he knows he'll eventually destroy. Soft, sweet and innocent, Sia is the light to Ray's darkness-and completely irresistible. From the moment he lays eyes on her, he knows he's going to have to put his dark past behind him to win her body and soul.
Excerpt #2 His gaze drops to my lips, and I am suddenly and painfully aware of his body pressed tightly against mine, his arms around me, and his heartbeat quickening, as if it’s oblivious to the fact the danger has passed. I’ve never been this close to him, never seen his eyes so dark, never imagined I would feel the power thrumming through his body. Because aren’t predators supposed to kill?
Unspent adrenaline screams through my veins, turning my legs liquid. I ache with a desire I shouldn’t feel. A painful, desperate hunger for a man I should not want—a man whose violent nature both arouses and frightens me.
“Ray...” His name is a whispered plea on my lips.
He threads his hand through my hair, tugging my head back so hard my eyes tear, but I have never felt such pleasure in pain.
“Christ. I’m barely in control as it is.”
A soft moan escapes my lips. I am hot—so hot, I might combust— and before I can stop myself, I rock up, thread my hands through his hair, and touch my lips to his in a gentle kiss.
Ray stiffens and growls, the sound vibrating through my chest. He deepens the kiss, his tongue sliding between my lips to explore every inch of my mouth. My heart speeds to double time, but it is the way he holds me still—one hand tangled in my hair, his other hand firm around my back—that sends a wave of liquid heat through my veins. His lips are firm and demanding, forcing my mouth open as his tongue plunges deeper, stroking me into oblivion. Possessive. Demanding. Unyielding. A Predator’s kiss.
Sliding my hands over his magnificent chest, taut and hard, and then along his broad shoulders, I drink him in with a never-ending thirst. Hot and hungry, my tongue tangles with his, questing, seeking, wanting more as I grind my hips against his thigh in an entirely unchar- acteristic display of need.
My actions inflame him. In one smooth movement, he spins us and backs me into the cold, brick wall. His arm tightens so hard I can barely breathe. And then he ravages my mouth, his tongue questing deep, as if he has lost control and the beast within will settle for nothing less than devouring me.
I have never really, truly been kissed.
Until now.
I feel him with every inch of my skin, every breath I take. My breasts ache for his touch, my clit throbs for his attention, and my heart pounds in warning.
But when I moan into his mouth, he tenses and pulls away. “Condition I’m in now...it’s like after a fight...I got no gentleness in me.”
Bloodlust. The aftereffect of a fight. The edge of control. But I have watched Ray for so long, lusted after him for so many nights, imagined I was the one in the ring pinned to the mat, I do the unthinkable and lean up and nip his lip. Hard.

Extra Steamy Excerpt: Meet Dominic and Payton I knelt before him in the tub while he stood under the stream of water with his cock buried halfway down my throat. I liked the echo of his moans across the tiled walls, and liked him snapping to attention under my command even better.
His hand brushed over my cheek, pushing back a damp clump of my hair. “Jesus, were you hungry for this cock?”
It was true. His alarm had gone off this morning and we'd stumbled sleepy-eyed to the shower, and I'd dropped my knees to the porcelain in one half of a heartbeat.
I moaned when his hand curled around the back of my head and guided me to go faster. To slide that thick, hard cock between my tight lips. It was difficult to keep my eyes open with the water misting in my face, but no fucking way was I not going to look at his body. Water poured over his hardened frame, cascaded down over the contours of the muscles beneath his smooth skin.
This moan was deep and long, and the hand clenched in my wet hair. “You like that cock in your mouth? Because I fucking do.”
My eyes turned up to his, blinking rapidly in the falling water. Oh, he liked that connection of our gazes while my mouth sucked on him, and his face twisted with pleasure. His expression was primal.
Aggressive hands locked on the sides of my face. His hips moved rapidly, pumping in and out . . . fucking my mouth. A growl ripped from his chest as he approached his orgasm, and I flicked my tongue over him with each stroke.
“Oh, god,” he said, “here it comes.”
I moaned my approval, accepting it as he shot into the back of my throat. Pulse after pulse, mirrored with moans from above. There just wasn't anything hotter than listening to him come. Between my legs I was slick and hot with desire.
His rapid breathing began to ebb. I put a hand on the wet tile of the wall to pull myself up, but abruptly he had me up and my back flat against it. The wall was cold, but the contrast between it and the hot man over me was nice.
“Safe word,” he said. “I have questions about that.” His hand followed the rivulets of water coursing down between my breasts, over my belly, but he stopped at the apex of my thighs. One calculated stroke between my folds and I was trembling. How the hell did he do that?
“Mostly,” he continued, his gaze on the hand stroking me, “what do you want me to do to you that you're worried might go too far?”
I bit down on my lip, closed my eyes, and my head thudded back against the tile. What he was doing to me downstairs was unreal. His touch was like nothing else.
“The safe word,” I said on hurried breath, “I doubt I'll need to use it, but . . . oh, shit, I want your fingers inside me.”
“Not yet. I guess what I'm trying to say is I don't know if I can do rough. It's not something I've done before.” The pads of his fingers kneaded my clit, alternating pressure and speeds. “What did you have in mind?”
“It's kind of hard to think when you're doing that.”
“What, this?” He slipped a finger inside me and I groaned in satisfaction. “What do you like? Besides being tied up, you've made that clear. You want me to pull harder on your hair?”
“Yes,” I purred.
“You want me to spank you?”
It came out dripping with lust from me. “Yes.”
“You want . . . all of it? Like, whips and paddles and . . .?”
The truth was I hadn't gotten into any of the heavier BDSM. That was all about trust and building a relationship with your partner, which was something I refused to do. But I was curious. If he was willing, why couldn't Dominic and I learn something new together? Teach each other a lesson?

“Oh, Chloe, if you’d like to come out, please wait until your Daddy gets back,” I insist, holding my belly as another Braxton Hicks contraction hits. I grip the dresser and try to breathe through it. It seems like they’re coming more frequently. Once it passes, I try to finish what I came in here for. Aaron is away, but I want the nursery done so we can enjoy the next few weeks once he returns. I walk around what will be her room, putting a few more of the pretty pink dresses in the drawers. Aaron and I have fought about the vast array of pink things that are now strewn around the house—he hates it, I love it. He insisted we paint her room in camouflage. Brown, green, and black camouflage for a girl? No. I almost sent myself into labor with that argument. I got home and he and Mark were drawing it out on the walls. I launched various household items at Mark while throwing him out of the house. My husband found out shortly after how much he could suffer by my hands. I may not be a SEAL, but you don’t mess with me either. In the end, I won with purple walls and the sheer netting around her white crib. “Daddy’s going to love this room, Chloe. I can’t wait to see his face when he sees the pretty butterflies.” Needing to take another break, I sit in the rocking chair and rub my stomach. It soothes me knowing she’s in there. I can protect her—it’s my job. I love being pregnant and it’s a miracle we were able to conceive her. I’ve already told Aaron I want to try for another one as soon as she’s born. I close my eyes and sink, allowing the world to fade away. I imagine holding her in my arms, sitting here in this chair, soothing and kissing her. I picture Aaron with her asleep on his chest as she gets to hear his heartbeat. She’ll own his world and have him wrapped around her finger. Knock, knock, knock. I hear the door, but it takes me a few seconds to get out of the chair. KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK. They bang louder this time. “Coming!” I yell at the door. Jeez, give me a second. Waddling to the door takes me a minute since I’m the size of a whale. I open the door and see Mark Dixon, Aaron’s boss and close friend. He works at Cole Security Forces with Aaron and served with him for years. His head is hanging low and when he looks up, his eyes are full of sorrow. “What’s wrong?” “Lee,” he chokes on the one syllable of my name. The one Aaron uses. Something is definitely not right. “What happened?” I ask again as I begin to shake. Tears fill his eyes and I know. I know my life is never going to be the same. I know everything I’ve ever feared is about to come true because Mark doesn’t cry. Mark wouldn’t be at my door if something weren’t really, really wrong. “It’s Aaron.” My heart stops beating and the world I live in ceases to exist. “Don’t,” I beg with tears blurring my vision and my breath accelerating. This can’t be happening. “Please, don’t, Mark. Please,” I beg him again, because once he says it…but I know it’s futile. It doesn’t matter because he can’t stop it. It’s already happened. “Natalie, I’m so sorry.” The dreaded words that every military wife fears. Only I wasn’t supposed to have to worry about this anymore. We were done. We got out. I wasn’t supposed to ever fear this again. Please, God, don’t take him from me. Please! “But, I’m p-pregnant. I’m having a baby,” I stammer as if that will somehow make none of this real. “He said he’d be back. He said he…” I trail off as it becomes difficult to breathe. My hand flies to my mouth to stifle the scream about to escape. Everything goes colorless. “It was an IED. I’m sorry,” Mark says as his eyes glimmer with unshed tears. I fall. But he’s there, cradling me in his arms. “I’m so fucking sorry.” “No. No. No.” Mark holds me as I sob clutching my stomach. “You’re lying,” I hiss, tearing myself out of his embrace. “I wish I were,” he says as I struggle to get up. “It was a mistake. He’s having a baby. He said it was a simple in and out!” I scream and throw my hands against his chest. “You’re lying!” I scream, even knowing it’s not a lie. “I’m sorry.” “Stop saying you’re sorry!” My sorrow turns to hatred. I hate him. I hate everyone in this moment. I hate Aaron and everyone who was there. I hate this house and everything in it. I hate the air that he no longer breathes. Hate consumes me. Hate smothers me. “Get out!” I yell and push against his chest. “Get the fuck out of my house! Aaron will be back in a few days and then we’re going to get ready for our daughter to be born.” “Please,” Mark beseeches and I refuse to look at him. This isn’t happening because Aaron’s alive. He’s not dead. How dare Mark lie to me. “He’ll be back. He wouldn’t leave me. He promised.” Aaron wouldn’t lie to me. He never does. When he left for missions, he would always say goodbye like it could be our last. But this time he kissed the tip of my nose and said, “Now don’t have that baby until I get back.” “Can I call someone? Your mom?” “No, you can’t call anyone because he’s not dead! Go get him, Mark! Go get my husband and bring him home.” I step back pointing my finger at him. “You all promised. He promised.” I clutch my stomach as a sharp pain radiates, but it’s nothing compared to the agony sitting on my chest. Tears flow relentlessly as I struggle against his hold. “He promised.” “I know he did,” Mark says as he holds my head against his chest. “He lied.” My life is gone. My heart is dead. I’m a widow at twenty-seven. Liam wasn’t supposed to be my happily ever after. He wasn’t even on my radar.
He was my husband’s best friend—forbidden. But my husband is dead and I’m alone. I ache for him and I reach for Liam. One night with Liam changed everything. Now I have to decide if I truly love him or if he’s just the consolation prize. I fell in love with Liam only to be left shattered into a million pieces. Again. The idea of being without him cripples me but the reality is, he’s gone. He doesn’t understand and I can’t make him. If only he’d see the conviction behind my words—then he’d still be here. My door was opened a crack, and I saw her walk down the hall to the bathroom, and soon after, the shower turned on. It was the perfect time to sneak the paper bat into her room. I started to second guess the generic message. It would seem too serious if I didn’t write something funny. So, I grabbed the pen and added something onto the other wing then examined the final note. Welcome to the “House”. ---Jake How’s Uncle Jesse? Her room smelled like vanilla. The walls were bare and aside from the pink suitcase in the corner, it was relatively empty. A picture of her and some guy sat atop the dresser and made me wonder if it was her boyfriend. I placed the origami bat on her nightstand and quietly slipped out of the room. An old Nirvana song played on my iPod. My door was intentionally left open while I lay on my bed. A glimpse of her wet hair caught my eye as she hurried back to her room, and a smile spread across my face at the thought of her finding the bat. It dawned on me for the second time, that up until today, I hadn’t genuinely smiled or laughed in ages. At the same time, I knew I was playing a losing game in seeking attention from someone who wouldn’t even know who I really was. I decided to take a shower to try to get my mind off her. Once I entered the bathroom, it became apparent that forgetting about Nina wasn’t going to be possible. The leftover steam from her shower filled the room. As I ran the hot water and tried to relax, Nina was everywhere. A strand of her blonde hair stuck to the tile wall. The smell of her coconut lime shampoo saturated the air. Then, after I stepped out of the tub, a pair of flowery panties lying on the floor caught my eye. Fuck. I wasn’t sure whether to leave them there or pick them up. A thought crossed my mind that I didn’t want Ryan to find them. I didn’t know where this was coming from. All I knew was that the thought of him touching her underwear irked me. Really irked me. So, I picked them up and took them to my room. Throwing on some black sweatpants, I decided to bring her the underwear. I knocked on the door, and when she opened, the look on her face proved she wasn’t exactly expecting me. Her eyes trailed the length of my bare chest, and my abs tightened in response. She glanced down for a few seconds at my stomach, which was particularly ripped since I started working out a year ago on my lunch breaks at the office gym. The way her lips parted proved all of my hard work was worth it. She finally looked up at me. “Ha…hi…what’s up?” A tight tank top clung to her enormous breasts, her nipples protruding through the fabric. Fuck. Me. Wearing that, she was definitely not expecting me to knock on her door, and I was definitely not expecting to forget how to breathe. I couldn’t even remember why I’d come to her room. Oh, yeah. I reached into my pocket. “I found these on the bathroom floor…thought you might want them.” Book Summary & TBR link Jake Understood (releasing 3/30) A different side to the story: Jake’s side. “We’re getting a new roommate,” they said. And one of the things I got that I wanna keep is you.” - Soaring by Kristen Ashley Exclusive Excerpt: Meet Amelia & Mickey “Hello, Boston Stone,” I greeted because I had no idea what else to say. “You are?” he asked as I put the bags to the ground and touched the button on the trunk that would open it keyless. As it glided open, I opened my mouth, doing it uncertain if I’d share my name or continue to try to brush him off, but I didn’t have the chance to decide. I heard the word, “Babe,” growled from behind me. I turned and saw Mickey stalking our way. Not sauntering. Not simply walking. Stalking. And he didn’t look happy. “Mickey,” I called tentatively as a greeting, uncertain at his demeanor. I hadn’t seen him since he hadn’t seen me (I hoped) at the movies. He was in his firefighter-not-fighting-a-fire uniform of blue khakis and tee. His eyes were moving up and down my body. He still was unbelievably beautiful (that uniform…seriously). He didn’t greet me back. When he stopped, his gaze cut to Boston Stone and it went flinty. “You need somethin’?” he asked incomprehensibly inhospitably. “I was just helping this lovely lady with her groceries,” Stone responded. “I got it,” Mickey stated flatly and then he got it. As in, he carefully pulled me back, grabbed the bags I was perfectly capable of picking up myself and placed them in my trunk. He then went for the bag Stone was carrying, caught hold, but Stone didn’t let go. “I can put it in the trunk myself, Donovan,” Stone clipped. So they knew each other. “As I said, I got it, Stone,” Mickey clipped back. Yes, they knew each other. The handles flattened as they both kept hold and pulled. “Please!” I exclaimed. “We already had a wine incident. The sidewalk of Magdalene has been anointed with one red, let’s not anoint Cross Street with four.” Mickey instantly let go and stepped back, running into me but he didn’t apologize or move away. He stayed close, the back of his left side touching the front of my right. It was at that point I noticed Mickey gave off a lot of heat. Stone put the bag in my trunk, shut it and turned slowly to Mickey and me. But he had eyes on Mickey. “Are you two seeing each other?” “That’s your business how?” Mickey asked as reply. “It’s my business because, if you’re not, I’d like to request you leave so I can ask her to dinner,” Stone returned. My head jerked as my body locked in shock. “That’s not gonna happen,” Mickey growled. My body stayed locked in shock but that didn’t mean my eyes didn’t fly to Mickey’s stony-faced profile in more shock. “So you are seeing each other,” Stone remarked. “Again, not your business,” Mickey bit out. Stone’s expression turned shrewd. “And that’s something that would lead me to believe that the beautiful woman standing behind you is free to go to dinner with me.” “You forget English?” Mickey asked. “I already answered that too.” I butted in, “I think I can speak for myself, Mickey.” He moved nothing but his head (though his torso shifted an inch) so he could look down at me. His eyes were communicating again. This time they were communicating the fact that he really didn’t like Boston Stone. Considering what I knew of Mickey, this would be something that, along with my own natural aversion to Mr. Stone, would have made me decline the man’s invitation. Unfortunately, Mickey added words to his look so this didn’t happen. “You’re not goin’ out with this guy.” Was he being serious? He couldn’t tell me what to do. He wasn’t my father, my brother or my lover. Heck, he barely knew me! All he knew about me was that he didn’t want me. I was his…“attractive” neighbor who he now did not even walk over to beg recipes from (okay, so Aisling didn’t know of any other recipes I had, but whatever). He didn’t even return my email! And he was off with beautiful, statuesque redheads, smiling at them, taking them to movies. He couldn’t tell me who I could and could not see. “I’m not?” I snapped. “No,” he turned fully to me, an ominous fully. “You are not,” he enunciated each word clearly. “Sorry?” I asked sarcastically. “When did you become my big brother?” He was still enunciating clearly, and dangerously, when he stated, “I absolutely am not your big brother.” “No, you’re not,” I retorted, tossing my hair, which I hoped was shining in the sun. And with my hair toss, I further hoped my fabulous highlights caught the rays and gleamed. “You’re my neighbor. And if I want to go out with someone, you can’t say boo to the contrary.” “This guy is an asshole,” he bit off, jerking his thumb at Boston Stone. I felt my eyes get big and I got up on my toes, leaning into him, hissing, “That’s insufferably rude, Mickey Donovan.” “It isn’t rude if it’s the truth.” “You may think so but you don’t say it in front of the man in question.” “You do if he’s as big of an asshole as this asshole is,” Mickey shot back. My eyes got wider and I leaned closer. “Stop being nasty!” I demanded. “You been in town, what?” he asked then answered with another question he didn’t expect a reply to. “A coupla months? I lived here my whole life and trust me, I’m savin’ you from a load of misery, this guy gets interested in you,” he returned. I rocked down to my stilettos. “I am a big girl, Mickey. All grown up and everything. I do think I can make such decisions for myself.” “You do, and they’re not what I’m tellin’ you to do, you’d be wrong.” I glared at him. Then I pushed right past him, hand lifted and got in the space of Boston Stone. “Boston,” I said as he took my hand, grinning arrogantly and more than a little obnoxiously at me. “A belated nice to meet you. I’m Amelia Hathaway.” His hand tightened in mine as he murmured, “Amelia.” I pulled my hand from his, asking, “Do you know Cliff Blue?” “Of course,” he replied, inclining his head in a pompous way that actually was kind of creepy. “I live there,” I announced, doing another hair toss and powering beyond the creepy. “And I have plans this evening but I’m free tomorrow. Are you?” “I wasn’t,” he replied. “But I’ll be making a phone call and I will be.” “Excellent,” I decreed. “Seven?” I went on to ask. “I’d be delighted,” he said softly, his eyes dancing with humor and I could see that too was relatively malicious. I didn’t care. I’d go out with him once, just to stick it to Mickey. Then I’d be done with Boston Stone. And anyway, I had about seven new outfits that would be perfect for a date and I knew this even though I hadn’t been on a date in two decades. “I’ll see you then,” I said. “You will, Amelia.” He dipped his chin to me. “Looking forward to it.” “And me,” I replied. He gave me another arrogant grin then transferred it to Mickey. “Donovan,” he murmured. Mickey didn’t reply. Stone looked back to me. “Until tomorrow, Amelia.” “Yes, Boston. And please, feel free to call me Amy.” Mickey grunted. Boston smiled before he turned and sauntered away. I whirled on Mickey and tipped my head to the side. “See? All grown up and able to make decisions for myself.” “What I see is a pattern here,” he retorted unpleasantly. “Oh?” I asked with mock interest. “Do tell.” Then Mickey told. “First time I laid eyes on you, your ex was up in your face, cursing at you, threatening you, shouting right at you and acting like a total fucking dick. It’s obvious he’s rich and up his own ass and didn’t give a shit you were alone, and because of that, you probably felt unsafe. It was just as obvious you were lettin’ him use you as his punching bag. Even if no woman deserves the way he was speakin’ to you, he just kept right on punching. Now, you know that guy you just made a date with is a total asshole and you made that date anyway. So that’s your pattern. You open yourself up for assholes to shit all over you. And if that’s the way you like it, baby, then no way in fuck I’m gonna get in there to show you there’s another way.” Before I could retort, he turned on his boot and prowled away. The only time you let your worry go is when you give me control. And your worry is what keeps you from being honest.” I swallowed. Blinked. A torrent of wetness welled behind my eyes, “I don’t want to break the scene.” “Stay still. Stay naked. Speak your mind.” “I almost died with you a hundred times. That recovery room, they had you in this induced coma and you looked dead. There were bags of blood. Bags, hanging over you and you were all opened up. And, I’m sorry, I haven’t said this because you’re the one who went through it.” I swallowed a gallon of tears. “I don’t want to see you like that again. But I think about it all the time. I dream about it. I see it when I close my eyes. I want you to live, so I do what I think is going to make you happy and I always get it wrong. Stay or go. I give you attention or none. It’s always wrong.” “What about your happiness?” “It doesn’t matter. Not as much as yours. It’s not life or death.” “It is, Monica. It is.” I shook my head. “You can’t convince me of that. We can do this hurtful honesty thing all day. You’re the priority and I’m okay with that. Deal with it.” He nodded, looking down for a blink, then up at me. He reached for my wrists. “These go behind your back.” I did as instructed. “Now, get on your knees.” I bent them. With my hands behind my back, it was hard to balance. “Do you need some help?” he asked. “Yes.” I thought he’d take me gently by the elbow, but dragged me down. He was right. I was relaxed, totally submitting and trusting him, loving every bit of discomfort he dished out. “Spread your knees apart.” I did, too slowly for him. He kicked them wide. “Do you remember your safeword?” He asked, unbuckling his belt. “Yes.” A tingling rush went down my spine with the promise of his dominance and the way it made me forget how fragile he really was. His cock was out in the next second. “Open. Your. Mouth.” Did you want a pat little ending about Jonathan and I riding off into the sunset? Did you want flowers and stars? Man, I wish it was all soft filters and violins. I wish we could fight about who cleaned the bathroom or who was cooking dinner. But I knew I was never destined for simple contentment. TAZ by Andrea Smith is LIVE! Meet Taz & Lindsey is this sexy, suspenseful stand alone in the G-Men Series! Read and excerpt & enter to win a $50 Gift Card & Signed Paperback! Excerpt I wiped my hands clean, tossed the towel into the trash and grabbed my wife's hand, pulling her behind me up the wide staircase to the second floor. Once there, outside of those closed french doors that had been my iron curtain for the past several weeks, I pushed them open, pulled her into the room with me, and then kicked them shut with one swift move. I pulled her close, raising her shirt up and she didn't resist; but instead, raised her arms up so that I could pull it up and over her head. I unfastened her front closure bra, releasing her beautiful tits that I hadn't touched in months. I lifted her up, and carried her over to the bed--our bed, gently placing her on her back, so that I could straddle her and begin feasting on her breasts. She moaned beneath me with pleasure. I multitasked, sucking on a breast while I unfastened her jeans, before raising myself back up so that she could shimmy out of them. I pulled my shirt up and over my head, and then quickly unfastened my jeans, shedding them along with my boxers in one swift movement. I lowered myself back over her, my mouth finding hers. I slowed my pace. I sure as hell didn't want to come before my dick was even inside of her, but I swear to God, I knew I wouldn't last long. I kissed her softly, playfully, as my teeth gently nipped at her bottom lip. Our tongues interlaced, and her arms wrapped around me tightly, pulling my face and upper body even closer to her. I was consumed by her scent, her softness, her sweetness--all of it. She was mine to claim and holy fuck if I wasn't going to! Nothing--I repeat--nothing was going to keep me from sinking my cock into her sweet pussy and showing her that she was mine--now and always. And then we heard it. At the same time. Fuuckk! From the room down the hall, Jackson was crying. And it wasn't just a fussy or whiney cry that would likely stop so that he could return promptly to sleep. Hell no! It was a loud-ass wailing, followed by a high-pitched shriek of "Mommeee!" Over and over. Seriously dude?
Lindsey squirmed underneath me, pushing against my chest. "I'll get him, babe," I said, getting up. "No," she said gently, giving me a quick kiss on the lips. "It's okay, Taz. He's calling for me. I'll get him." She launched herself out of our bed, and quickly went to the closet, pulling on her white terry cloth robe, making a quick exit so that she could tend to our son. Meet the author: Andrea Smith I was born and raised in southern Ohio, and with the exception of a brief stint in Dallas, TX, have been an Ohioan most of my life. My dream has always been to write a novel, and back in the early eighties I tried to do just that, having been influenced by authors such as Kathleen Woodiwiss, Johanna Lindsey, Rosemary Rogers and Laurie McBain. I remember writing to all of them through their listed publishers, and the only response I received was from Johanna Lindsey (who lived in Hawaii at the time. Ms. Lindsey advised me to continue with my dream; and to submit to various publishers again and again. Of course, at that time, publishing e-books yourself was not on the horizon; there were vanity publishing houses of course, but she advised me to avoid those. So my dream was put on the back-burner for more than 25 years until June of 2012 when suddenly I no longer had a reason not to write a novel. My sons were grown; I found myself without a career (blessedly) and the creative juices flowed once again. I finished my first novel, "Maybe Baby" in September of 2012; the next two books in the "Baby Series" titled "Baby Love" and "Be My Baby" were published in early 2013. I learned a lot in my first endeavor with self-publishing. I've made so many friends as a result that it is over-whelming. In the spring of 2013, I had an idea for a different type of Alpha, and wrote Book #1 of the "G-Man" Series, titled "Diamond Girl." This book was well-received, and I followed it with Book #2, "Love Plus One." These are stand-alone books. I am finally doing what I love and I sincerely appreciate the wonderful readers who provide feedback and take the time to comment. I hope that with each book, my writing has grown and improved as I strive to publish quality fiction. GIVEAWAY

The puppies jump all over each other to get to their mother and it’s just so beautiful, with their cute little tails wagging and everything.” He just stared at me. “I know its psycho, Ben. Believe me, I’m well aware of this.” “Hey, it’s fine.” He covered a smile with his hand. Too late, the bastard. “You try dealing with all these hormones going apeshit. Crap. Apeshoot.” “Apeshoot?” “I’m trying not to swear,” I explained. “You want the first word our child comes out with to be something bad?” “No. Gotcha.” The man was incredibly bad at hiding a grin. “No swearing.” Positive.
