Ravage Me Excerpt: Meet Harlow & Cruz

“Sugar, you just stirred up a shit storm.” The southern drawl to
his voice mixed with the smell of leather, cigarettes, and radiating
testosterone would have made my pussy clench, but he ruined that by pressing a
damn gun to my head.

“Low, don’t.” I ignored Casey just as I always did. Quickly, I
turned my body. As my arm reached back to knock the gun out of his hand, I
instantly froze. The three patch rag falling on his chest was a red light
flashing in my eyes. Immediately, I stopped, putting my hands in front of me. I
would never touch a brother, outside of the ring that is.

The man standing in front of me caught my breath and short-circuited my senses. His
broad shoulders were covered with a skin-tight, black t-shirt and leather rag
adorned with several patches that fit him like a glove. His bulging arms were
covered in tattoos from the wrist up. They were flexed, one pointed the gun with
precision, and the other was fisted at his side. His light caramel hair was cut
short on the sides, but longer on the top, begging for a woman’s fingers to run
through it. His beard was cut very short to his skin making my mouth water,
wondering what it would feel like between my thighs. His sapphire eyes narrowed
at me as I stared effortlessly in them, becoming entranced unable to
speak.

“What the fuck is going on here?” Breaking from this man’s
stare, I focused on the familiar voice I’ve missed for too long. Pops eyes swept
the room quickly, and when his eyes landed on mine, the anger in them instantly
faded. “What the hell’s going on?” He eyed the man with the gun pointed directly
at my head and he clenched his hands into fists.

“Hey, Pops,” I said, turning my eyes back to the beautiful
specimen in front of me, wanting him to know that I wasn’t afraid. If I needed a
bullet in my head, so be it. I wouldn’t shy away.

“You know this bitch?” the hot asshole in front of me clipped, and my lip curled
slowly. If he wasn’t wearing that rag, I’d show him how much of a bitch I could
be.

“Put the damn gun down, Cruz,” Pops said jokingly. The anger dripping off this man’s
face in front of me told me he didn’t see anything funny about this. He began to
take a step closer. “Cruz. Stop!” Pops barked loudly as the other guys started
walking up behind him. Cruz instantly stopped, but kept the gun on me. “Cruz,
this is my daughter, Princess.

“Shit. Are you fucking kidding me?” Cruz’s anger was actually
pretty funny, and I had to stifle the small laugh that wanted to escape. I had
too much respect to let it fly. But the shocked look on his face was pretty
priceless coming from a tattooed hot-ass. I probably should have told him that
sooner, but what can I say … I was born a bitch.

“No, I’m not fucking kidding you. Get the fuck away from her, and put the goddamn gun
down.” Moving my head to Pops, I could see he was fuming. Whenever Pops was mad,
his forehead turned bright red, and the lines throughout it became more
prominent along with the vein that ticked with this heartbeat. It’s a look I
always hated growing up, and it used to scare the ever-loving shit out of me.

My eyes flicked back while Cruz took one more look at me. “If you’re still pissed
later, we can meet in the ring.” I smiled my damnedest. I could see the smoke
threatening to come out of his ears. Confusion laced his eyes, but I wasn’t
about to explain right now. I held out my hand to Cruz, “Nice to meet ya. I’m
Harlow.” He stared me down as if he was hoping he could make me combust into a
million pieces. Sorry Buddy, your super powers won’t work. I’ve been here too
long to let that get me.

He tentatively lowered the gun, putting it behind his back,
bringing his hand to mine. My hand slipped into his warm, rough, strong grip, a
shock raced through my body, beginning at my connected hand and racing all the
way through to my feet setting my body on fire.
“Cruz.”

Excerpt:  Diary of a Dieter

Hauling my gym bag beside me, I pushed my way into the gym. The smell of sweat immediately wafted up my nostrils, and I gagged loudly. Dana cringed beside me.

“Oh my God. Charlene, it smells like crotch in here!”

Snorting a laugh, I held my hand over my mouth and nose. She wasn’t wrong. It wreaked, but the need to lose weight was overruling my need for fresh—or at least less clammy—air. Holding our breath, we made our way through the reception to the large aerobics hall at the far end. If there was ever a fear of us being blinded by old women and their cellulite … we were wrong. A sea of slim, fit, toned, and tall beauties turned and began scanning us up and down.

“I feel naked. Let’s go. We clearly don’t belong here.”

Spinning around, I moved toward the exit, but Dana blocked my path.

“Nope. You wanted to do this, and I bet they didn’t always look like that. Maybe this class really works!”

I furrowed my brow at her “Do you ever drop that optimistic glass you carry around?”

Dumping her bag on a bench, which was pushed against the white-washed wall, she smiled brightly. “Nope.”

Well, of course she was feeling good! As she slipped off her coat, I stared at her wide-eyed. Wearing a pair of tight leggings, a sports top that showed off far too much of her toned midriff, Dana was right at home amongst these women. I groaned in displeasure.

“Are you kidding me? Where did you get that body, and how much did you pay for it?”

She tilted her head to the side and tutted. “You had one, too, ‘til Brad started steamrolling your fitness regime. Remember?”

Did she always have to be right?

A loud clapping pulled me from my jealous glare at Dana and my attention was now focused on the petite, short blonde-haired, and clearly never-ate-a-cake in her life, fitness instructor at the front of the room.

“Hello everyone! It’s nice to see so many familiar faces, and I notice some new ones. Come up!”

I gawped at Dana who shrugged, grabbed my hand, and began dragging me to the front of the class.

“Hi, hello! It’s always nice to have new blood in our class. I’m the instructor, Francesca. Is this your first time at Zumba?”

I stood awkwardly as dozens of eyes stared at me. That’s right, ladies, I’m the fat girl. Every fitness class has one. And you all suddenly feel so much better about yourselves. That carrot you scoffed for breakfast doesn’t look so bad now. Does it?

“No, it’s our first class,” Dana answered.

Oh no. Didn’t she know she had just committed the cardinal sin of fitness class?

“Well, you ladies stay right here up front and follow the routine, you’ll be just fine.”

I was in hell. Not only was I the only chubby girl in the room, I was now the entertainment at the front of the class! Clapping her perfectly manicured hands again, Francesca encouraged people to move into a space as she hit the play button on the CD player. The Brazilian sounds of the lambada filled the room, and I felt sick.

Swaying her disgustingly tiny hips back and forth, Francesca began a routine that looked like it belonged on the stage; not a hall in one of the smelliest gyms in London. Dana, of course, was a natural. Swaying, bouncing, and shaking her pert little arse around the room like a pro, she put the rest of us to shame. Well, I say the rest of us, but I mean me.

I bounced, jiggled, and wobbled myself around that mat as though I had a feather tickler shoved up my arse. I wasn’t sure how this would help me lose a few pounds, but with the flailing of my limbs and sporadic movements of my hips, there was a good chance we’d have rain.

Hot & Steamy Excerpt:  My Beautiful

I slowly walked up to her, lifting my hand up to caress her cheek. “I still can’t believe I’m here with you.” “Me too,” she sighed as she leaned into my hand. Lifting my other hand, I ran my fingers through her hair. I pulled the elastic band out and grasped her hair into my fist, then my mouth was on hers. She let out a soft moan as our lips finally connected, our tongues teasing and our teeth biting. My breaths were coming rapidly and I couldn’t contain my own hums of approval as she explored my body with her hands. Letting my hands drop, I found the tie that held her robe closed. I untied it and pulled it apart. My hands started to do their own exploring; it didn’t take long until I discovered she wasn’t wearing anything underneath. I groaned and my cock twitched. I was now hard as a rock. I had to slow down before it was over faster than it started. I wanted to savor every moment. Slowly, I pulled my lips away and looked at her beautiful face. Her cheeks were flushed and her lips swollen and red. Just the sight of her in front of me all flushed and breathing heavily with her robe gaping open, made me want to throw her on the bed and fuck her into oblivion. But it would be over too soon for me. I wanted to taste every inch of her. Memorize every curve of her body, every moan that escaped her lips. I wanted to make her come until she begged me to stop. Only then would I succumb to my own needs. I lifted my hands up to her shoulders and gently pushed the robe back making it fall in a lump at her feet. “Go lay on the bed and spread your legs for me.” She hesitated for only a second. I said I would let her have control, but tonight I needed it. I had no control over anything else in my life at that moment, so right then, I needed the control. Especially after the night I had. I walked to the end of the bed as she got comfortable, resting her hands on her sides as she spread her legs for me. I could see goose bumps on her body as she bit her lower lip and gazed at me with hooded eyes. She was wet for me and I licked my lips in anticipation. I had to hold myself back from diving right in. Not once did I go down on anyone else while Scarlett and I were apart. Her taste and her smell were burned into my receptors and I didn’t want anything else to fuck that up. And right then, I needed a little reminding.

"'You made me want to be a better person, and I am because of you. You've made me feel things I hadn't felt in so long'...'You're my beautiful.'" - Kade

He glided his hand down my back over my spread cheeks, down to my dripping sex. “Are you on birth control, Scarlett?” he asked as he started rubbing circles over my clit.

I moaned and started rocking my hips with each movement of his finger. “Yes,” I said breathlessly. I just wished he’d fuck me already. I felt like I was about to explode.

“Good,” he said, pulling his hand away. “I want to feel all of you. You know I’m clean. I trust that you’re clean too.”

“Yes,” I whimpered as he moved closer behind me. With one hand on my hip, he guided his length in between my legs and started rubbing the head of his length against my clit.

“Please, Kade. I need you,” I moaned.

He laughed. “Patience, Scarlett. Good things come to those who wait.” His arrogance was coming out in full force, and I was getting irritated.

“Just fuck me already,” I groaned.

Before I was able to say the last word, he thrust into me. I let out a cry as his grip tightened on my hips and his thighs slapped against my ass.

Excerpt:  Unwanted Stars

I was distracted from my daydreaming by the most intense eyes I’ve ever seen. The were blue, the brightest blue. Although one of them had a patch of brown next to the pupil. Tan skin, blue eyes, dark brown hair. And a stare that made me uncomfortable.

I’d noticed him before. The first day of the tour, in fact. He reminded me of Henry Cavill. Broad shoulders, tight ass, bulging muscular arms and a gorgeous face. When he smiled, he had a boyish look about him, but when his lips were pressed tight, like when he was listening to Anabelle describe the sights, he looked like an alpha male. A hot, dangerous alpha male. I’d purposely avoided him because I didn’t want to give Anabelle any ammunition towards getting me fired. And now that I knew Tom had blabbed, I felt even more determined to keep my attraction in tact. I’d purposely stayed away. I hadn’t even heard his voice yet. Was he American? Canadian? British?

But, now he was staring and I couldn’t avoid him any longer.

“Auden, right?” he asked, offering me a fresh blueberry from a ziploc bag. I narrowed my eyes at him and his choice of snack. Here we were, in Amsterdam. He could buy a brownie laced with pot or a million different kinds of sweets. But, he was munching on blueberries.

“Thanks,” I said, grabbing a couple berries from the bag and popping them into my mouth. They were juicy and sweet. Almost intoxicating.

Stop it, Auden.

“Have you worked here long? I’ve never seen you before.” It was then that I really heard his accent. British. Delicious.

“I’m new. But, why would you have seen me before?” I tilted my head in confusion.

“My mates and I like to take trips every few months. Blow off steam.” He said, popping another berry into his mouth. His lips were a gorgeous shade of peach. “And Jordan’s the best.”

“I see.” I said, pressing my lips together, not knowing what else to say. It wasn’t often that a man could get me tongue tied. But, it was happening. All I could focus on was the dimple on his right cheek when he smiled. And how his left eye had a small patch of brown within the blue.

“Unique name.”

“Huh?” He snapped me out of my daze. “Uh, yeah. I guess.”

“Don’t hear it very often.” He said.

It was then that I realized I didn’t know his. And it was my job to know it. How was I going to get out of this one?

“Campbell,” he said,“Campbell Hutchins.”

“Like the soup?” I said. As soon as the words left my mouth, I knew they were unprofessional. But, he simply laughed.

“Wow, never heard that before.” He said, running his fingers through his silky brown hair, “My friends call me Hutch.”

“Seriously?” I asked, taken aback.

“What do you mean?” He looked confused.

“As in Starsky & Hutch?” I pressed.

“You are way too young to know that reference.” He said, shaking his head from side to side.

“They made a movie reboot when I was in high school. Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson…remember?”

“Right.” He said with a lopsided grin. He had such a boyish charm to his smile, it was unnerving.

“Besides, you don’t seem old enough to know the original show either. That was the seventies.” I narrowed my eyes at him. He could be in his early thirties, but there was no way he was old enough to have watched that show when it was on the air.

“Saw it in reruns.” He said with a shrug.

“Nice to meet you, Starsky.” I said with a smirk. He shook his head at me and extended his hand like the English gentleman that he was. I tried my best not to feel the electrical current coursing through every nerve in my body. This was a brand new sensation. Which is saying a lot considering my boy-crazy history. This was unique and terrifying and wonderfully exciting. “Sorry, I mean Hutch of course. So, Campbell…where’d your parents think of that one?”

“Do you always interrogate tour members about their names?” he asked with a chuckle. My cheeks turned pink when I realized I usually didn’t give a crap about people’s names or the origin of said names. But, he was different. It was like I needed to know anything I could learn about this handsome stranger.

“Just answer the question,” I said, flirting with a tilt of my head and arms crossed across my chest.

For a second, everything stopped as Campbell looked down at my feet. He smirked as his eyes climbed up my calf and to my thighs. They lingered there for just a second before continuing up to my torso, my chest and finally my face. When our eyes met, he grinned and I suddenly felt as naked as the day I was born.

“Tradition.” He answered. When I looked confused (because obviously I’d forgotten the question since he’d studied every inch of my body as if he wanted to devour me). “I’m named after my great grandfather. He was kind of a hero in my town.”

“Where are you from?”

“Jersey.”

What?

“Um, no. Try again.”

“What do you mean?” he asked with a chuckle.

“I’m from the states, pal. I know when someone’s from Joi-zee and when they’re not. And you clearly are not. Where are you really from?”

He threw his beautiful head back in laughter, that dimple once again making a grand entrance on his cheek. Something twitched in my belly—desire, I think. Until I realized he was laughing at me.

“And you call yourself a tour guide? The island of Jersey…one of the Channel Islands…” His voice trailed off as he leaned his forehead in my direction. If he could read my mind, this is what it would say:

I.

Am.

A.

Dumbass.

You know those moments when you really just want to crawl in a hole and forget your poor excuse for a life? Yeah, this was one of those moments. I could never get that moment back. I could never convince this gorgeous man that I was not only aware of the Channel Islands, but had probably been to one or two of them as a child. I just wanted to slink back to the tour bus and hide behind the seats. So not like me. I didn’t let men get under my skin. Hell, I got under their skin. Who was this guy?

“Uh--Of course,” I said, stumbling on my words. “I was just kidding.”

Just then, I was saved by another member of the tour. A mousy brain haired American girl named Becca.

“Excuse me, Auden. Anabelle needs you.”

Thank God.

“I’d better, um…go,” I said.

“Until we meet again,” he said with a chuckle.

Not if I can help it. The next three weeks would be agony if I had to dodge that gorgeous man every time our bus made a stop. Lord, beer me strength.

“Don’t move.” I walked away, into the kitchen and dug into one of the bags. The store fuckin’ got me, what could I say. I was gonna barbeque in style next summer. But one thing my kitchen needed was a new spatula. Nice rubber handle, strong, and wide, flat, heatproof silicon…perfect for what I wanted. I came back and rubbed over her left cheek, pulled away for that perfect first contact and…

Thwack!

"You have to go. I won't be able to control myself. I've wanted you so bad for so long and after I've been in the cage...I can't think straight." He gives a guttural groan and his fist clenches on my hip.

Primitive. Primal. His need speaks to me. I tighten my grip on his neck and rock up to kiss him. He takes over. His kiss is hard and demanding.

"Mine." His voice is raw, savage and for a moment I truly believe he may lose control.

He rules in the ring

Two years ago, Jake and Amanda were going hot and heavy. But when Jake wanted more, Amanda walked away. Jake immersed himself in mixed martial arts, living life on the edge. But that didn't dull the pain of Amanda's rejection-until a chance encounter throws them together.

A high-powered lawyer, Amanda was a no-strings-attached kind of girl. But two years after her breakup with Jake, she still hasn't found anyone who gets her heart pumping the way he did. And then he shows up in her boardroom, hot as sin and needing help...

But can he rule her heart?

Jake is darker, sexier, and impossible to resist. As their chemistry builds, Amanda's not sure if she can stay in control, or if she's finally willing to let him claim her body and soul.

Sizzling Exclusive Excerpt: In Your Corner

“Don’t move.”

Totally immersed in painting the cupboard, I freeze mid–paint stroke at the sound of Jake’s deep voice behind me.

“What? Am I doing something wrong?”

He closes the distance between us and runs his finger along the back waistband of my gym pants, sending delicious tingles up my spine. Then he slides his hands around my waist, bared by the rise of my T-shirt as I stretch to reach the top of the cupboard with my paintbrush.

“Yes. You look too damn sexy. Do you know what it does to a man when he catches a glimpse of something he isn’t meant to see?”

“I hope it makes him tell the woman she can call off the panic attack and drop her arm,” I mutter as I do just that. “I also hope it makes him decide his hands might be of better use somewhere other than around her waist.”

Jake slides his fingers around to my stomach, resting them just over my mound and his voice drops to a low growl. “I could make use of them here.”

“So says the man who turned down a good offer just the other night at Redemption.” I remove his hands and turn to face him, putting on a brave face while inside I seethe. Who does he think he is coming on to me after brushing me off?

“No games, Jake. You made your position clear. I got that. I’m not interested in being screwed around.”

He presses his hands against the cupboard on either side of my head, caging me with his body. “What are you interested in?”

“Moving on,” I say honestly.

His pulse throbs in his neck and his eyes harden. “With whom?”

“No one right now.”

He gives a satisfied grunt as if I had just cleared up a question in his mind. “Everyone is out back having a good time. You should be there too.”

“There’s a lot of work to do. I want to get it done. The faster I open shop, the faster I can start my lawsuit against Farnsworth.” I slip under his arm and edge along the counter.

“You’ve been working since six o’clock this morning.”

Grabbing a clean cloth from the counter, I make an effort to wipe the grease off my face. “I’m used to working twenty-hour days. I’m not afraid of hard work.” But I am afraid of mercurial fighters who run hot one minute and cold the next.

His face softens, and he takes the cloth from my hand and holds it under the tap. The pipes gurgle when he turns the rusty faucet and water gushes out, skimming over the cloth and trickling into the sink below. Without warning, he lifts me and settles me on the counter.

“You don’t have to work like that anymore.” His voice is calm, soothing. I am momentarily lulled out of work mode and into heat mode as he eases his hips between my legs and reaches to turn off the faucet. “It’s Saturday night. Time to relax and have fun.” With a firm hand, he cups my jaw and then wipes the cloth gently over my nose, forehead, and cheeks.

His gentle touch, the warmth of his hand, his breath, minty and sweet, and his hard body nestled between my thighs all converge in an unbearable rush of sensation. I grab his wrist, forcing his hand away.

“Jake…I’m good. Really. There’s so much to do. I’ll come out when I’m done and I’ve cleaned myself up.”

“I like you this way,” he murmurs. “You look…cute. Real.”

“Real?”

He brushes his thumb over my cheek. “Amanda without the armor. Your clothes, hair, makeup…nothing is perfect. It’s just the real you. I never got to see the real you before.”

Torn between being mortified and pleased, I reach for another cloth. “Real Amanda is covered in dirt and has holes in her sweats.”

He traces a finger down my throat to rest in the hollow at the base of my neck. The room heats to one hundred degrees, and if I’m not mistaken, I hear the sound of my blood boiling.

“I like holes in sweats.” His voice drops, husky and low, and his finger continues its downward journey into the vee of my shirt.

“Jake…”

He traces lightly over the crescent of my breast. “I like dirty girls,” he whispers, his voice thick with desire. “I can’t stay away.”

Oh God. Every bit of warmth rushes to my center as his deep, sensual voice ignites one of my dark fantasies. Jake, straddling my bound body, growling commands, telling me what he’s going to do to me in the filthiest language I know. A soft moan escapes my lips and we’re back on the roller coaster again.

“This game you’re playing confuses me.” His heart beats strong against my palm when I lay my hand over his chest.

“Me too.”

“Then what are you doing?”

His eyes take on a feral gleam and my breasts tingle.

“Playing dirty,” he growls. Tangling his hand in my hair, he tugs my head back, exposing my throat to the heated slide of his lips. “Sometimes you have to stop thinking too much and just go with it.”

My breath comes in short pants as he sucks gently on the pulse at the base of my throat. Barely able to form a coherent thought for the pounding of blood in my temples, I scramble for sanity. “There’s too much between us to just go with it. We need to talk…”

His hand closes in my hair, twisting roughly. “Lawyers talk. You don’t look like a lawyer now. You look fucking sexy, and your mouth is all lush and pink and needing to be kissed. You want to talk, Amanda, or you want that kiss?” He nips the hollow at the base of my neck.

Pleasure and pain meld together and I whimper as a heated rush of sensation floods my veins. “Kiss.”

Jake smiles. “My dirty girl wants a dirty kiss.” Holding my face, he slants his mouth over mine and kisses me.

Soft kiss. Sweet kiss. Warm, firm lips tasting faintly of coffee. His five o’clock shadow brushes my chin as his tongue eases my lips open to stroke against mine. My body melts against him as he explores my mouth, leaving nothing untouched. Tongues wind and tangle. Two years of fantasies coalesce in a single rasping breath.

“’S not so dirty,” I mumble against his lips.

“Oh, you don’t know how dirty I can be.” Jake grips my hair and tugs my head back with a firm, hard yank, sending little bolts of lightning straight to my core. Then he kisses me hard and fast. Rough. His teeth scrape my bottom lip as his tongue dives deep, filling me, taking what I have to give and demanding more. The pounding of my heart shifts from lust to fear as he consumes me, and for a moment I worry he has forgotten I need to breathe.

When he breaks the kiss, I draw in a long, ragged breath. “You never kissed me like that before.”

“You were never like this before,” he murmurs, his fingers easing up my shirt, his thumb tracing over the crescent of my breasts. “Raw and open, vulnerable, needing my help. So fucking real.”

My breath catches in my throat as he explores, cupping and squeezing my breasts and then teasing my nipples through my lace bra until they are tight, aching peaks.

“My clothes. Take them off.”

“Sometimes an understanding silence was better than a bunch of meaningless words.” ― Mia SheridanArcher's Voice

Excerpt:  When Bree first met Archer

The sky was just beginning to dim when I drove into Pelion, a quiet, almost old-fashioned, little downtown area. Most of the businesses looked to be family, or individual-owned, and large trees lined the wide sidewalks where people still strolled in the cooler, late-summer twilight. I loved this time of day. There was something magical about it, something hopeful, something that said, "You didn't know if you could, but you made it another day, didn't you?"

I spotted Haskell's and pulled into the parking lot to the right of it and pulled into a spot.

I didn't need groceries just yet, but I was in need of a few basic necessities. It was the only reason I'd run out at all. Even though I had slept five hours or so today, I was tired again and ready to settle into bed with a book.

I was in and out of Haskell's in ten minutes, and walking back to my car in the deepening twilight. The streetlights had blinked on in the time I had been in the store, and were casting a dreamy glow over the parking lot. I pulled my purse up on my shoulder and switched the plastic bag from one hand to the other when the bottom of the plastic tore open and my purchases fell to the concrete, several items rolling away, out of my immediate reach. "Crap!" I swore, bending down to pick my stuff up. I opened my large purse and started tossing in the shampoo and conditioner I'd picked up, when I saw someone stopped in my peripheral vision and I startled. I looked up just as a man bent down and put one knee on the asphalt and handed me the bottle of Advil that had rolled away, apparently directly into his path. I stared at him. He was young, and had shaggy, long, slightly wavy, brown hair that was in desperate need of a cut, and facial hair that looked more neglected than purposefully rugged. He might be handsome, but it was hard to make out exactly what his face looked like under the overly-long beard and hair that fell over his forehead and down around his jaw. He was wearing jeans and a blue t-shirt that was stretched across his broad chest. The t-shirt had had a message on it at some point, but now was so faded and worn away that it was anyone's guess what it had once said.

I took all of this in in the few brief seconds it took me to reach for his extended hand holding the bottle of pain medication, at which point, our eyes met and seemed to tangle. His were deep and whiskey-colored, framed by long, dark lashes. Beautiful.

As I stared at him, it felt like something moved between us, almost as if I should reach out and try to grab the air surrounding our bodies–like perhaps my hand would come back holding something tangible, something soft and warm. I frowned, confused, but unable to look away as his eyes quickly darted from mine. Who was this strange-looking man and why was I sitting here frozen in front of him? I shook my head slightly and snapped myself back to reality. "Thanks," I said, taking the bottle from his still-outstretched hand. He said nothing, not looking at me again.

"Crap," I quietly swore once more, returning my attention to the items strewn on the ground. My eyes widened when I saw that my box of tampons had opened and several of them were lying on the ground. Kill me now. He picked up a few and handed them to me and I quickly stuffed them in my purse, glancing up at him at the same time he glanced at me, but there was no reaction on his face. Again, his eyes darted away. I felt color rising in my cheeks and tried to make small talk as he handed me a few more tampons and I snatched them and threw them in my purse, suppressing an hysterical giggle.

"Darn plastic bags," I breathed out, fast talking, then taking a deep breath before continuing, a little slower this time. "Not only bad for the environment, but unreliable really." The man handed me an Almond Joy candy bar and a tampon and I took it from him and dropped it into my open purse, groaning inwardly. "I tried to be good about using my own re-usable shopping bags. I even bought really cute ones in fun patterns… paisley, polka dot," I shook my head, stuffing the last tampon on the ground in my purse, "but I was always leaving them in my car, or at home," I shook my head again as the man handed me two more Almond Joy candy bars.

"Thanks," I said. "I think I've got the rest of this." I waved my hand over the four remaining Almond Joy candy bars lying on the ground.

I looked up at him, my cheeks heating again. "They were on sale," I explained. "I wasn't planning on eating these all at once or anything." He didn't look at me as he picked them up himself, but I swore I saw a miniscule lip twitch. I blinked and it was gone. I squinted at him, taking the candy bars from his hand. "I just like to keep chocolate around the house, you know, for a treat once in a while. This here should last me a couple months." I was lying. What I had bought would last me a couple days, if that. I might even eat several of them on the car ride home.

The man stood and so did I, lifting my purse over my shoulder. "Okay, well, thanks for the help, for rescuing me… and my… personal items… my chocolate, and coconut… and almonds…" I laughed a small, embarrassed sound, but then grimaced slightly. "You know, it would really help me out if you would speak and put me out of my misery here." I grinned at him, but immediately went serious as his face fell, his eyes shuttering and a blank look replacing the warmer one I had sworn was there moments before.

He turned and started walking away.

"Hey, wait!" I called, starting to step after him. I stopped myself though, frowning as he moved away from me, his body moving with grace as he started to jog slowly toward the street. The strangest feeling of loss washed over me as he crossed and walked out of sight.

Meet  Lance Paul
Cover Model for Unraveled by Jen Frederick

Picture
Picture
Hi Lance!  We are so excited to have this opportunity to get to know you better.   We have just a few questions for you.  To begin, can you tell us how you became involved with Jen Frederick and the Unraveled Cover?
Of course, I was found by the amazing photographer David Wagner, and he reached out to me to be a part of the Shoot.  At the time I did not know it was for a Jen Frederick book cover.
  • You mentioned that your mother is a big fan of the series, which book is her favorite? Does she brag to her friends that you are on the cover?
I did, my mother is a big fan of the “Woodlands series,” so this is a little bit of a big deal for her.  She has just started bragging to her friends, she belongs to a book club and has told all of them about it.
  • Your bio is quite extensive as an actor/model/producer. What are the attributes of each that you like the best?
Great question, well I started my career off as a fitness model and everything has developed from that initial competition I competed in. Everything life has thrown me in my career has been a blessing.  Modeling helped me pay for college and introduced me to stage acting and producing developed from that.  My degree was in Financing and that has helped me with the financial side of producing, and while I was in college I had my first bite of the acting bug.

Through the years I have learned to loved all aspects of the my career.  When I’m in front of the camera modeling I am using my abilities to convey emotion and feelings through my look.  While acting I am creating characters that entertains and makes people who watch feel something.  Then producing allows me to use my love of puzzles and find the fastest and most proficient way to finish a project.  A great example of this would be finding a cost efficient way to land a crew in Syria to cover refugees for my documentary, “Growing up Refugee.”

  • Do you have to get your head in a particular mindset when you’re in a shoot?
Yes, of course.  It doesn’t matter if I’m in front of the camera for a photoshoot or film, I take both just as serious and let myself become the character I am portraying.
  • What was being in the shoot like? Is it uncomfortable to bare so much skin?
You can never bare too much skin! :)
Picture
We agree:)
  • In Unraveled, the hero has very close male friends who he bonded with while in the Marines. Do you have a group of friends that you would do anything for?
I do actually, I grew up in Naples Florida and even though my buddies and I have went our different directions we still keep in contact with each other.  I’ll actually be visiting two of my best buddies this year in London and Japan.
  • The book features a scene where the guys construct a slip n slide out of tarps and air mattresses. Sounds fun, Right? So, we ask: "What's your craziest DIY project?"
That sounds amazing! It reminds me of a similar DIY slip n Slide my fraternity brothers and I created in the main lobby of our fraternity house.  That was crazy good time.  We had a whole themed party around it.
  • The Hero in this series, tried to pick up knitting to impress his girl.  Name one thing you have done to impress a girl that your friends would tease you for.
Well I have recently taken up gourmet cooking and have been learning French to impress my current girlfriend.  Nourrir, parler français à elle et elle est heureuse.
  • What's it like to be the embodiment of one of Jen's sexiest guys to date.  Sgt. Phillips is a dirty talker.... Ladies, want to know... On a scale of 1 to 10, what is your skill level of dirty talking?
It is amazing being part of Jen’s world.  I am very thankful for the opportunity and readers rest assured I am a 10 on the dirty talking scale when the times calls for it.  It wasn’t just my amazing cooking that landed me my dream girl.
  • Women are swooning over the cover of Unraveled.   Have you been recognized as the cover model?  How do you handle women “swooning” over you?
I have not been noticed as of yet, but that could be due to me being stuck in Detroit during the Polar vortex on a project.  As with everything I try and handle women “swooning” with respect and never take advantage of any situation.
  • Out of the movies that have been produced, is there one role you would have loved to play?
opposite of myself.  It was a refreshing role and I look forward to the movies release later in the year.

I approach film financing and producing very differently then others, my main goal behind helping creating projects is to further my acting career.  So when I attach myself to a project I usually have a role set in mind.  My favorite as of yet was the role of Cain in “Buried Cain,” it allowed me to deeply embrace a character who handles his life situations in the polar opposite of myself.  I look forward to the “Buried Cain” release later in the year.

  • We would love to see more of your work. Can you share with us a few of your favorite finished photo shoots? or candids?
Picture
Picture
I definitely can. I hope you enjoy the pictures I have enclosed.
Thank you again for taking the time to answer our questions.  We are enthusiastic about seeing more of you.  Good Luck to you and all of your future endeavors.
Thank you! I appreciate that, and the same to you girls.
  • Finally, one last question.   Are you single?  :-)
Unfortunately readers I am in an amazing relationship with a very special girl.
